The 49th ANPAD Annual Meeting – EnANPAD 2025, held from October 1-3, 2025, gathered the academic community in administration, accounting, and related fields for one of Brazil’s most important scientific conferences. The event, a traditional and established forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collective learning, took place at Tiradentes University (UNIT) Farolândia Campus in Aracaju (SE).
With more than four decades of history, EnANPAD is recognized for fostering in-depth debate among researchers, faculty members, and graduate students. Over the years, it has registered more than 40,000 participants. In 2025, the event reached remarkable figures: more than 1,800 attendees, 413 presentation sessions, over 200 national and international speakers and panelists, and 65 interdivisional activities. A total of 2,668 papers were submitted, 2,465 reviewers participated, 3,141 reviews were completed, and 1,560 papers were presented. In addition, 44 registration waivers were granted – 11 due to socioeconomic vulnerability (CadÚnico) and 33 based on ethnic-racial identity (Black, Indigenous, and Quilombola) – reinforcing the Brazilian Academy of Management’s (ANPAD) commitment to broadening access, inclusion, and diversity in scientific production.
The central theme, “Sustainability in Management: Recognizing Identities, Local Experiences, and Global Challenges,” guided the discussions of this edition. The theme emphasizes the importance of understanding organizations through their local contexts – cultural, socioeconomic, political, environmental, and territorial – and of acknowledging the identities and practices that emerge from them. The debates highlighted the need to rethink universal approaches and to value situated knowledge, especially in the face of global challenges that directly affect the daily realities of communities and organizations.
Choosing Aracaju (SE) as the host city further strengthened this regional perspective. Known for its hospitality, high quality of life, and strong cultural identity, the capital of Sergipe welcomed participants with modern, inviting infrastructure. Tiradentes University (UNIT), the host institution, provided an ideal environment for academic activities, with spacious, accessible facilities that fostered the exchange of ideas.
Among the highlights was the second edition of EnANPAD Professional, which focused on presenting technical-technological products (PTTs). This initiative reinforces ANPAD’s commitment to innovation and to valuing applied outcomes derived from academic research. Presentations were held on October 2 and 3 at UNIT to consolidate the presence of professional programs within the EnANPAD.
The opening ceremony, held at the AM Malls event center, marked the official beginning of the event and brought the academic community together to celebrate achievements in the field. The ceremony featured the presentation of the Best Paper Awards from each ANPAD Division, the Clovis L. Machado-da-Silva Award for Best Paper at EnANPAD 2025, and recognition for the Best PTT of the event.
The Clovis L. Machado-da-Silva Award, offered by Emerald Publishing and accompanied by a cash prize, was awarded to the article “Enquanto uns choram, outros vendem armas: desempenho econômico-financeiro de empresas da indústria armamentista durante recentes conflitos armados” (While some cry, others sell weapons: economic and financial performance of companies in the arms industry during recent armed conflicts) (FIN14864 — Theme 1), authored by Ewerton Alex Avelar (CEPCON/UFMG), Wagner Moura Lamounier (PPGC/UFMG), Terence Machado Boina (CEPEAD/UFMG), Marco Antonio Lucio (CEPCON/UFMG), and Helen Rose Pereira (CEPCON/UFMG).
The Best Technical-Technological Product (PTT) was awarded to the report “ID 228 — S-CARB: protocolo SENAC de Inventário, Mitigação e Compensação de Carbono” (ID 228 — S-CARB: SENAC Protocol for Carbon Inventory, Mitigation, and Compensation), authored by Regivan José Dantas (PPAD/UFRPE), Brigitte Renata Bezerra de Oliveira (PPAD/UFRPE), Ana Regina Bezerra Ribeiro (PPAD/UFRPE), Márcio Sampaio Pimentel (PPAD/UFRPE), Marcos Felipe Falcão Sobral (PPAD/UFRPE), and Marcelo Luiz Monteiro Marinho (PPAD/UFRPE).
During the ceremony, ANPAD also honored researchers whose careers and scientific contributions have been particularly noteworthy. This year, the ANPAD’s Lifetime Achievement Award
recognized Edi Madalena Fracasso, Nicolau Reinhard, Elvia Mirian Cavalcanti Fadul, and Peter Kevin Spink.
The ceremony was followed by a social gathering at the same venue with regional music, providing an opportunity for reunions and celebrations.
On digital platforms, EnANPAD 2025 also achieved significant results. Communication efforts generated over 1 million views, reached 250,000 accounts, and produced 25,000 interactions on social media. On the ANPAD events website, there were 978,000 views, 85,000 users, and 240,000 sessions during the promotional and event period.
The 2025 edition was also backed by sponsors dedicated to advancing research and academic training. They see EnANPAD as a unique chance to link academia with the productive sector and support the development of new ideas and solutions for contemporary managerial challenges. A notable new feature, praised by participants, was the lounges sponsored by FGV and Insper. These spaces offered opportunities for rest, networking, and work. They were designed to encourage interaction among attendees and make the event more welcoming.
The official supporters of EnANPAD 2025 believe in the strength of the academic community and in the transformative role of administration in society. Together, they support ANPAD in advancing one of the most important annual conferences in the field, strengthening connections among people, scientific production, and opportunities.
EnANPAD 2025 reaffirmed ANPAD’s role as a key convener of the scientific community in administration, promoting dialogue, reflection, and collaboration that strengthen research and graduate education in Brazil.
In 2026, ANPAD will celebrate its 50th anniversary during EnANPAD 2026, to be held from September 23 to 25 in Fortaleza (CE), at the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR). The upcoming edition promises to be a milestone for the organization and for the entire field of administration.
