Established in 1987 by the Brazilian Academy of Management (ANPAD), the ANPAD Proficiency Test is one of the most widely recognized and used proficiency examinations for master’s and doctoral programs in administration, accounting, and related fields across Brazil. Since its inception, the exam has become a national benchmark for assessing core competencies and has helped standardize graduate admission processes by providing a reliable, high-quality assessment tool.
Since transitioning to an online format in 2020, the ANPAD Proficiency Test has become even more accessible and inclusive, enabling candidates across the country to participate without travel. The exam assesses language proficiency (in Portuguese and English), as well as logical, analytical, and argumentative reasoning skills that are essential for academic success at the graduate level.
Currently, more than 200 graduate programs use and recognize the ANPAD Proficiency Test as a selection criterion, underscoring its credibility and trustworthiness. One of its advantages for institutions is the flexibility to assign different weights to the assessed areas, allowing the exam to be tailored to each program’s specific profile.

In addition to its prominent role in researcher training, ANPAD recognizes merit and academic performance through the ANPAD Proficiency Test Recognition of Excellence (Selo de Excelência). Awarded to participants who achieve Level 4 or higher in all assessed areas of the ANPAD Proficiency Test Scale within the same edition, it acknowledges outstanding performance and may be included in résumés and professional profiles as evidence of excellence in the evaluated competencies, serving as a competitive advantage in the academic environment.
The Recognition of Excellence is available in the participant’s restricted area, under the “My Results” menu, along with the certificate for the completed edition.
