From July 25th to 29th, 2025, the 85th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM) will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark. Recognized as the world’s leading academic event in the field of Management, the meeting brings together thousands of researchers, faculty members, students, and professionals interested in discussing the most relevant contemporary challenges related to management and organizations.

The AOM Annual Meeting is a well-established space for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, the formation of collaborative networks, and the strengthening of international research. With a broad and diverse program, the event offers unique opportunities for academic and professional development.

Among the scheduled activities are the Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) — interactive workshops led by experts and focused on the professional growth of participants. Organized by AOM Divisions and Interest Groups, PDWs take various forms, such as tutorials, roundtables, consortia, debate sessions, and research incubators. These activities aim to provide high-quality learning experiences with concrete outcomes for academic careers.

On Saturday, July 26th, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM (local time), the PDW titled “Sustainability Research in Latin America” will be held at the Bella Center (Hall B – B0-m5). The session will address key challenges and research opportunities in the Latin American context related to sustainability.

Latin America presents unique and still underexplored characteristics in the international sustainability literature, such as institutional fragility, the prevalence of family firms, and economic volatility. At the same time, the region offers valuable contributions in areas such as biodiversity conservation, circular economy, social innovation, and regenerative systems.

During the workshop, internationally recognized scholars will discuss how Latin American organizations are addressing sustainability issues and will highlight promising agendas and research paths to advance the field.

The session will feature the following scholars:

  • Bárbara Galleli – Federal University of Paraná
  • Angel Sevil – Universidad del Desarrollo
  • Tomás Santa-María – Universidad del Desarrollo
  • Adriana Ferreira Caldana – University of São Paulo
  • María José Murcia – IAE Business School
  • Susana Farias Pereira – Getulio Vargas Foundation
