From July 13th to 19th, the city of Recife (PE) will host the 77th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), one of the country’s main scientific events. The program will take place at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), with free activities open to the general public. Registration is now available on the official event website: https://ra.sbpcnet.org.br/77RA/.

With the theme “Progress is Science in All Territories”, the 2025 edition proposes a reflection on the role of science in building a fairer, more plural, and connected Brazil. The program includes conferences, round tables, cultural activities, interactive exhibitions, short courses, web-based courses, and the traditional Poster Session.

Although general participation is free of charge, fees apply to three specific categories:

  • Registration for mini-courses and web mini-courses;
  • Authors with approved papers in the Poster Session;
  • Those who choose to purchase event materials (such as folders, notebooks, and other items).

One of the highlights of this edition is the expansion of the “SBPC Afro and Indigenous” initiative, which will now be called “SBPC Afro, Indigenous and Traditional Communities”, incorporating the voices and knowledge of riverine peoples, traditional healers, folk gunmen, artisans, and rural workers. The initiative reinforces the commitment to valuing diverse forms of knowledge rooted in Brazil’s varied territories.
