ANPAD’s Board Activities in the First Quarter of 2025: Partnerships, Events and Progress

January – March 2025 Edition | Volume 5, Issue 1

Marking one year of leadership, the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Academy of Management (ANPAD) began 2025 with a busy agenda of meetings and strategic actions aimed at strengthening both the organization and the academic community. The President-Elect, Professor Emílio José Montero Arruda Filho, and the Director of Communications and Publications, Professor Patricia Guarnieri dos Santos, led key meetings with government agencies, academic associations, and graduate programs.

Strategic partnerships with the Brazilian agency CAPES and the Federal Council of Administration (CFA)

The board met with the Evaluation Department at CAPES to discuss a potential partnership to fund the SPELL library. SPELL plays a vital role in measuring the impact of Brazilian academic journals and contributes to the evaluation of graduate programs across the country. A collaboration with CAPES would ensure the continuity and expansion of this initiative without incurring additional costs to the journals.

At the Federal Council of Administration (CFA), ANPAD presented its main initiatives — including scientific events and the ANPAD Proficiency Test — to strengthen institutional ties and enhance the organization’s visibility within the sector.

Dialogue with graduate programs

As part of its ongoing initiatives, ANPAD holds meetings with associated programs during each city visit. In February, while in the Federal District, the Board met with local graduate programs to listen to their concerns, share strategies, and strengthen ties with the academic community. Discussions focused on new funding opportunities, institutional partnerships, and the importance of participating in ANPAD events throughout 2025.

UFPA celebrates 60 years of the recognition of administration as a profession

A highlight of the first quarter was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the regulation that formally recognized administration as a profession in Brazil. Held at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the event gathered leaders from the field to reflect on the profession’s progress and ongoing challenges. During the ceremony, Professor Emílio Arruda Filho emphasized the significance of research and graduate education in enhancing the qualifications of Brazilian administrators.

The event’s central theme was the celebration of the profession’s Diamond Jubilee. To mark this milestone, the Federal Council of Administration (CFA) and the Regional Councils of Administration (CRAs) organized a special program featuring events throughout the year across different regions. Among the planned initiatives is an interview with Professor Emílio for the CFA, where he will discuss the prospects and expectations for advancing the administration field in Northern Brazil.

Next Steps: ANPAD Events in 2025

As part of its ongoing efforts, ANPAD invites the academic community to take part in its key scientific events this year:

Divisional Conferences (EnEO, EnAPG, and SIMPOI) — June 11–13, 2025, at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG)

ANPAD Annual Meeting – EnANPAD 2025 — October 1–3, 2025, at Tiradentes University (UNIT), in Aracaju

ANPAD remains firmly committed to fostering research and graduate education in Brazil, strengthening its engagement with the academic community, and building strategic partnerships to advance the field of administration.
