Annually, ANPAD’s electronic library, SPELL (Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library), makes the impact indicators of journals available on the platform. In addition to the 2022 indicators, the algorithm used was published on the SPELL website to guarantee transparency and auditability.
The impact indicators measure the frequency with which articles from a journal registered in the database are cited by other articles from journals in the same database. These metrics offered by the SPELL database are crucial for editorial evaluations, providing valuable information to editors and editorial boards planning the journal’s future. Together with the indicators, ANPAD is disclosing to the community the algorithm and explanatory notes.
SPELL plays a pivotal role in democratizing and facilitating access to a diverse range of data sources for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers from Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries, given that most articles are available in Portuguese. In 2024, the electronic library aims to enhance its initiatives to expedite the collection updates.
