Below is the welcome message from ANPAD’s new president, Professor Emílio Arruda:
“Dear ANPAD Community, I am happy to welcome this new year of 2024 and extend an invitation to each of you to join in a collaborative and cohesive endeavor to advance the Brazilian Academy of Management (ANPAD) over the next three years. The new board is committed to collaborating with all members to secure and bolster the financial and academic sustainability of the organization and its member post-graduate programs.
We have a new economic, educational, and market scenario with regional/local and national interests. Therefore, we need to improve ourselves, but first of all, be aware of our limitations with possible struggles and challenges to resume our results, participation, and national and international connections.
Above all, we must prioritize quality, foster the growth of our professors and students, and consequently expand our graduate programs not only in terms of numbers but also in achievements and contributions to the market, government, and society at large. The responsibility of researchers in graduate programs is becoming increasingly apparent to society, where interactions between academia, the market, and government are shaped by innovative proposals and more impactful engagement.
In our current highly digitalized and technologically advanced environment, we find ourselves in a landscape completely different from the past. Our classes, research, and outcomes have transcended the analog and even traditional digital realms. Not only have they transitioned to virtual platforms, but they also exist within a diverse array of virtual intelligence, virtual reality, robotization, anthropomorphization, and other contexts where ancient humans are accompanied by new models of metahumans. Therefore, with ethics, responsibility, and intelligence, it is imperative that we comprehend how to adapt, evolve, and harness technological advancements and personal growth while upholding the principles of authorship and ownership. Using tools and methodologies to streamline information, gather content, and organize large amounts of data demands a cautious approach. Moreover, effective communication and collaboration are integral components of scientific progress.
We must collaboratively establish guidelines for teaching and knowledge-sharing that are both intelligent and efficient, aiding our students and professors in reflecting upon and developing solutions that align with the demands of the current digital environment. In light of this, our board seeks to encourage senior professors to re-engage with our conferences, inspire younger members to explore new horizons, and foster partnerships to cultivate a more professional environment within our association. While our conferences will continue to be methodically crafted within the scientific and academic realm, it is essential that they also provide opportunities for engagement with companies, government, and society at large so we can work and learn together.
We rely on everyone in the association, invite both new and existing non-member programs to join us, and eagerly anticipate engaging with your agenda as a member to comprehend your priorities, which will then become our own priorities.
Wishing a happy and successful 2024 to us all!”
With this team leading ANPAD, we anticipate three years full of achievements. We extend a heartfelt welcome to our new directors and wish them every success during their tenure!
