ANPAData: Evidence on academic and professional trajectories

January – March 2024 Edition | Volume 4, Issue 1

ANPAData was developed by ANPAD in collaboration with researchers from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). This digital tool unveils the professional and academic trajectories of alumni of graduate programs that are members of ANPAD and participants in the ANPAD Test.

Data is obtained through a cross-reference of information from members, individuals entering graduate programs, and participants in the ANPAD Test with two primary sources: the Lattes-CNPq platform, a public repository of academics’ information, and the Annual Social Information List (RAIS), which is an administrative database for formal employment relationships within Brazil’s workforce. ANPAD’s proprietary data was integrated with these databases using algorithms specifically developed for this project, allowing for the utilization of individuals’ fundamental characteristics to conduct comparative analyses and track trajectories across various groups concerning their behaviors.

The information is available on the ANPAData page, where users can explore 4 different tabs: Perfil Participantes Teste ANPAD (ANPAD Test Participants Profile), Perfil Acadêmico (Academic Profile), Mercado de Trabalho (Job Market), and Mercado de Trabalho X Perfil Acadêmico (Job Market vs. Academic Profile).

In the tab “Perfil dos Participantes do Teste ANPAD” (Profile of ANPAD Test participants), it is possible to explore the initial profile of ANPAD Test participants from the 2001 to 2018 editions, analyzing performance trajectories and the evolution of participants’ profiles over time.

In “Perfil Acadêmico” (Academic Profile), users can analyze various academic indicators of participants and non-participants in the ANPAD Test, taking into account their demographic characteristics.

By accessing the “Mercado de Trabalho(Job Market) tab, users can explore the dynamics of employment, salaries, occupations, and other characteristics of the employment relationships of both participants and non-participants in the ANPAD Test.

Finally, in the tab “Mercado de Trabalho X Perfil Acadêmico” (Job Market vs. Academic Profile), users can compare professional and academic indicators between individuals with different training levels and conduct analyses based on their demographic characteristics.

Therefore, the tool aims to enhance ANPAD’s transparency process regarding the potential impacts of graduate programs. It enables the observation of the medium and long-term trajectories of professional and academic careers, providing support for decision-making.

In addition to the digital tool, a technical report was made available based on detailed data on the individuals analyzed, according to information available between 2001 and 2020. The same data was used to build the ANPAData digital tool, and the report presents several analyzes regarding the academic and professional profiles of participants in the ANPAD Test and alumni of graduate programs in Administration and Accounting Sciences.
