Between June 18th and 21st, FGV EAESP – Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getulio Vargas – will host the BALAS 2024 Conference. With the theme “Innovation Ecosystems for Business Development”, the event promises to be a beacon for academic exchange and professional growth in the area of Latin American studies.

The Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) is the first academic association dedicated exclusively to business and economics in Latin America. In addition to its annual conferences, BALAS produces special publications, doctoral consortia, case studies and awards.

The first day of the conference will feature a plenary session led by Prof. Annabelle Gawer from the University of Surrey, a visionary in the realm of digital platforms. There will also be daily parallel sessions where papers will be presented, offering rich insights and promoting academic debate. The day will end with a welcome cocktail, providing the perfect opportunity to connect with colleagues and relax after a day of learning.

In addition to the conference on Tuesday, the other days of the week will also be packed with activities promoted by BALAS.  Check them out:

  • Wednesday, June 19: Don’t miss William Maloney, Chief Economist for the Latin America and the Caribbean region at The World Bank, as he shares his insights on global economic trends.
  • Thursday, June 20: Join us for the Awards Ceremony, followed by a gala dinner – a celebration of achievements and a chance to network in style.
  • Friday, June 21: Participate in our Paper Development Workshop (PDW) and Teaching Case Development Workshop (TCDW) to refine your skills and elevate your academic work.
